Our Mission

We are honored to be known as one of the top law firms in Arkansas. Our mission is to seek justice for people who have suffered life-altering injuries and for families who are dealing with the devastating repercussions of a wrongful death. We believe our clients deserve compassionate service, and every individual is cared for by one or more of our lawyers directly. We treat our clients with the dedication and care we would give to our own families. McMath Woods takes on a limited number of cases to focus the firm’s energy and resources on every case. Many cases are represented by more than one attorney in our firm. Every client is treated with warmth and compassion, served by the attorneys, not shuffled off to an assistant. This approach differs from many law firms in Arkansas that take on hundreds or more  cases each year. We believe our clients deserve our full attention.

The Pursuit of Justice Drives Us.

The pursuit of justice drives our team of trial lawyers and the profound responsibility to use our legal skills to empower those whose voices must be heard. We take a stand against challenging odds, seeking justice with professionalism and personalized care.

A Legacy of Service Spanning 70 Years: Our History

McMath Woods was founded in 1953 by Sidney S. McMath, Leland F. Leatherman, and Henry Woods. Sidney McMath completed two terms as Governor of Arkansas, and Mr. Leatherman and Mr. Woods served in the administration. The firm soon earned a national reputation for prevailing in groundbreaking personal injury, environmental law, and consumer rights cases. Mr. McMath was honored to be elected President of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and Mr. Woods was appointed as a United States District Court Judge.

The murder of Emmett Till and the “Little Rock Nine” were among the most significant national events of the Civil Rights movement. As a former governor, Mr. McMath led the opposition against the segregationist governor, championing individual rights and social justice. Today, the firm’s attorneys reflect the legacy of compassionate, personalized care and the relentless pursuit of justice.
