Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Lawyers are selected from all 50 states and Washington D.C. The selection process happens in four parts:
- Nominations. Lawyers enter the candidate pool by managing partner surveys, being nominated by peers, through third-party feedback, or by being identified by the Super Lawyers research team.
- Independent Research. Nominees are evaluated on the 12 indicators of professional achievement and peer recognition, which include: verdicts/settlements, transactions, representative clients, experience, honors/awards, special licenses/certifications, position within law firm, bar and/or professional activity, pro bono and community service, scholarly lectures/writing, education/employment background, and other outstanding achievements.
- Peer Evaluations. Candidates with the highest points from steps one and two serve on the Blue Ribbon Panel. These members evaluate other candidates within their primary practice area.
- Final Selection. A number of small, medium, and large firm attorneys are selected as winners. 2.5 percent are recognized as Rising Stars. Five percent are selected as Super Lawyers.
The Super Lawyers Magazine features the list and profiles of the selected attorneys. It is distributed to attorneys in the state or region, as well as the ABA-accredited law school libraries. Super Lawyers is intended to be used as an aid for those in need of legal services, to help them select the best possible attorneys for their particular cases.
The Super Lawyers selection process is complex and competitive. We are thankful to have the opportunities to help our clients and are honored to have been recognized for our work. We will continue to strive to provide services worthy of Super Lawyers recognition.
